Special Animal Friends
Our Guinea Pigs and Sheep
Animals guinea
At our school, we are lucky to have some very special animal friends who are a big part of daily life and learning.
Our Guinea Pigs
We have four guinea pigs of our own, as well as four visiting guinea pigs who come to spend time with us. The children play an important role in caring for them and learning how to look after animals responsibly.
Each class takes turns getting to know the guinea pigs, learning about their different personalities and what they need to stay happy and healthy. Children help with feeding, cleaning, gentle handling and making sure they feel safe and comfortable. This hands-on experience helps build confidence, kindness and respect for animals.
Meet Noodle – Our School Sheep
We are especially proud of our sheep, Noodle, who is a Valais Blacknose sheep. Noodle is a much-loved member of our school community and regularly comes right into school to spend time with the children.
Noodle often comes out to play and spends time in our EYFS area, where our youngest children get to know her up close. When she was younger, the children helped to bottle feed her, creating a very special bond.
We also take Noodle out for walks, giving children a unique opportunity to learn about animal care, exercise and outdoor responsibility in a fun and engaging way.
Learning Through Care
Caring for our guinea pigs and Noodle helps children develop important life skills such as responsibility, empathy and teamwork. These experiences bring learning to life and create lasting memories for everyone involved.
Our animals truly are a treasured part of our school family.
